Prince Ea & ADHD Research

Whilst doing this documentary task, my mind kept thinking about a video that I once saw on Facebook... (ironic, i know, but hear me out) It was posted by a guy called 'Prince Ea' and he posts very influential video's about lots of different arguable issues. One in particular is called Can We Auto-Correct Humanity.

I always think back to this video because it relates to the topic of social media. Also he takes the negative side of it, which is the side that my group and I are taking in this documentary task. I re-watched this video and took a few statistical notes and also some visual notes for some inspiration for some shot ideas for the documentary. This includes bringing up the increase of ADHD within the past years, which can evidently be caused by technology and social media.

From this website I found that cases and diagnoses of ADHD have been increasing dramatically in the past few years.

Percentage of American children aged 4-17 with ADHD

  • 2003: 7.8%
  • 2007: 9.5%
  • 2011: 11 %

  • ADHD doesn’t increase a person’s risk for other conditions or diseases. But some people with ADHD — especially children — are more likely to experience a range of co-existing conditions. They can sometimes make social situations more difficult or school more challenging.
    Some co-existing conditions include:
    • learning disabilities
    • conduct disorders and difficulties, including antisocial behaviour, fighting, and oppositional defiant disorder
    • anxiety disorder
    • depression
    • bipolar disorder
    • Tourette’s syndrome
    • substance abuse
    • bed-wetting problems
    • sleep disorders
